David Havel graduated from the Secondary School of Applied Cybernetics in Hradec Králové (CZ), majoring in graphic design, then studied traditional puppet animation at the UTB and VOŠF.

After his studies he worked at the PPP post-production studio, He was involved in, for example, the internationally acclaimed documentary film about Jan Saudek. Furthermore, he worked as an editor for movie trailers, as in Malé oslavy or Oko ve zdi. In addition to full-length animated projects, David created countless music videos, television commercials, independent short animated His cross-media projects include the creation of graphic and audio-visual images of the TV station PUBLIC TV. The project Hurvínek in 3D was his first contact with the making of a feature film, where he first worked as an artist, and later on as a visual and technical director. In co-production with The Spejbl and Hurvínek Theater, he made a recording of live theater performance in 3D stereoscopic format – the film was distributed in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. He joined the Miracle Film production company in 2012 and worked on production and film exhibitions of the stop-motion animated feature Little from the Fish Shop.

He had a chance to shortly work on feature documentary film Red Trees, by Marina Willer, and Oscar-winning director of photography César Charlone, in 2015.

After leaving Miracle Film he worked as a freelancer on series of advertising and short art films for Danone, HIPP, LAB etc.; In 2018 He joins the LAB Studios in Prague and worked on the production of the short-film Paradox: Rusty Lake, for the Rusty Lake PC/Mobile Game, with vast success (IMDB 9.0, more than 1.8 mils. viewers on YouTube!).

In the same year, he starts to work more on cross-over film-game projects – he produced two VR Games for Saudi Arabia (Saudi monuments) and prototype of Prague Labyrinth exhibition game.

Nowadays, David works in Yolk studio, cooperating with big clients (Wagestream, Dashly, Sedlecky kaolin…), and his own project development and freelance jobs, where he looks over the rim of a teacup to explore new possibilities of digital workflows trough Open-Source Software and game engines > BLENDER, UNREAL ENGINE, DaVinci Resolve, etc.
